Position OverviewThe Project Accountant (PA) supports the construction project team providing basic accounting, data entry, reporting and analysis. Reporting to the Controller, the PA will be responsible for tracking and reporting related to the project. The position requires an understanding and familiarity with the overall project execution process, including budgeting, cost reporting, cost control, schedule, anticipated costs, and project profitability. This will be a highly visible position with a requirement to work within all areas of the project parameters. This is a full-time position with no travel required.
General ResponsibilitiesInterpret accounting related details of project contracts and translate them into forecasts and financial event schedulesTrack contract event schedules throughout the project and communicate risks and chancesMaintain and update budget and SOV trackingForecast project cash flows, cost and revenue through life cycle of the projectWork closely with project managers to accurately forecast cost at completionManages project working capital financials information and draw schedulesCoordinate with project managers, EPC and vendors to ensure necessary vendor commitments are madeReview and validate project related expensesManage project requirements such as: weekly cash flow forecasts, monthly cost, labor and cash flow forecasts, and bi-monthly development project reviewsPrepare audit and cost cert packages for internal and external auditorsClose out project accounts upon project completionTrack tax related items to the projectsCapable of presenting and discussing all aspects of a project's status with engineers, project managers and executive managers one-on-one or in a group environment
Skill RequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting, business, or engineering with detailed knowledge of project contracts and change order documents5+ years experience in project accountingKnowledge of GAAP accounting principlesConstruction/real estate development experience a plusStrong analytic skillsAdvanced computer and software skillsAbility to communicate clearly both verbally and writtenFlexible with changing priorities and willing to work as needed to meet deadlines.Organized/self-starter capable of working independently and managing multiple deadlines.
