Description

The National WWII Museum is currently seeking a Distance Learning Intern. This paid internship opportunity is responsible for assisting the Distance Learning team in facilitating the Museum's Operation Footlocker program. This position will focus on the daily administration, operations, and evaluation of Operation Footlocker and assist with other Distance Learning initiatives including but not limited to Virtual Field Trips, Webinars, and the Museum's annual Electronic Field Trip. The Distance Learning Intern will have the opportunity to participate in other professional development opportunities at the Museum and utilize WWII content knowledge and creativity in the planning and execution of educational programs with a K-12 focus.

Applicants should have an interest in working with children, as well as a curiosity and desire for continuous learning. They should have a fun-loving, energetic personality and a positive attitude. Applicants should also be detailed oriented and organized.

This position is a paid internship and offers a 20-hour work week. The Distance Learning Intern must have availability Monday - Friday from January 2025 through May 2025, with some evenings and weekends as required.

Requirements

Prepare and replenish materials including curriculum, artifacts, shipping labels and other supplies for incoming and outgoing Footlockers.Assess artifacts and complete condition reports for potential repair or replacement.Check communications for program reservations and handle customer service aspect of communications.Assist with logistics, organization, and evaluation of Operation Footlocker.Design and implement components of Distance Learning programs that appeal to a diverse audience, including historical research, identifying community partners, and artifact connections to lessons.Create content to integrate into existing Distance Learning programs - written descriptions / overviews, new activities for artifact engagement (with a focus on our new Virtual Footlockers, to be introduced), short videos, etc.Assist Distance Learning team with other tasks as needed.Qualifications

The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, history, museum studies, or a related field. Strong organizational skills, excellence with interpersonal communication, and an interest in museum education are a must.Must be able to work independently and take initiative.Candidates with experience working in education and public programming, particularly in museums or the hospitality industry, are encouraged to apply.Be able to communicate with individuals and larger organizations, including schools or districts.Must have good organization and time management skills.Must be creative, solution-oriented, and detailed.Must be at least 18 years of age.Candidates comfortable utilizing technology and various digital platforms is a plus.

Salary Description
