Job Description:To close first mortgage loans in accordance with applicable federal/state laws as well as Navy Federal policies and procedures. Prepare mortgage packages for delivery to settlement companies for purposes of closing on conventional, Veteran's Administration (VA) and Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgage products. To coordinate the closing and funding of assigned loan packages.Responsibilities:

Authorize release of closing packages to closing agent - Under minimal supervisionDetermine amount to be withheld from loan proceeds, request and process internal payoffs and prepare request for loan disbursementDetermine status of title and review mortgagees, mortgagors, manner of title and existing/proposed liens for accuracyEnsure credit, underwriting and property conditions have been satisfied prior to closingEvaluate title exceptions and determine if applicable; clear any mortgage related deficiencies within specified time periodExamine property status reports and property insurance policies for accuracy in documents and proper coverageMaintain contact with lawyers, settlement agents and real estate brokers regarding the status of closing packageMonitor mortgage loan process and ensure compliance with Federal laws, as well as, Navy Federal, NCUA and secondary market practices, guidelines and regulationsPrepare fully executed mortgage file for post-closingProvide closing agent with information for title binder and specifics about documents and conditions required for closingReview preliminary and final closing package including HUD-1 for RESPA complianceReview property surveys for unacceptable or uninsurable encroachments or violationsSchedule settlement with closing agent, member, seller and realtorVerify completeness and accuracy of approved credit packagesPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:

Ability to adapt to fluctuating work-flowAbility to remain calm and courteous under pressure while dealing with internal & external members/customersAbility to work effectively and efficiently with automated systemsExperience in performing clerical or administrative duties/responsibilitiesExperience in working in a high volume, fast paced environmentSignificant experience in closing first mortgage loans and/or equity loansWorking knowledge of mortgage lending requirements, regulations and procedures for VA and conventional loan programsDesired

Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal mortgage products, services, programs, policies and proceduresEffective skill following, interpreting and applying relevant data/instructions to guidelines, procedures, practices and regulationsEffective skill performing mathematical calculations and working accurately with numbersEffective verbal and written communication skills
