OVERVIEW
The Data Science Intern will work with the centralized business insightz team on a project throughout the internship. This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to apply learned data science skills combined with business strategy to answer real world business problem(s) here at Sheetz.
RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
Participate in defining a business case through problem framing and scoping activities.Work with the RAD team to identify, collect, clean, and analyze data points relevant to the problem.Apply learned statistical analysis techniques to the data to develop insights.Prepare a final report of findings and present to business unit leaders.Assist with ad hoc data analytics requests which will provide insight into other areas of the business
QUALIFICATIONS
EducationJunior or Senior pursuing a degree in data science, analytics, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field of studyExperience
Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques and applicationsProficient programming skills in R or Python (SQL preferred but not required)Excellent analytical and problem solving skillsWillingness to work as a member of team, but comfortable working independentlyStrong professionalism and basic business communication skills
