Locum Tenens Physician - Traumatic Brain Injury/General Medicine near Schenectady, NY

We are actively seeking a Board-Certified Physician for a locum tenens opportunity near Schenectady, NY. This position involves providing a combination of General Medicine and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) exams on a PRN basis. The role is ideal for physicians looking to work with Veterans in a non-treatment setting. Flexible scheduling options are available, and the position requires no prescribing or ongoing treatment responsibilities.

Position Overview:

Responsibilities:
  • Perform a combination of General Medicine and Traumatic Brain Injury exams
  • Conduct non-treatment C&P exams and separation health assessments
  • Interview-based exams with some physical assessment (e.g., range of motion testing, muscle strength testing)
  • Assess Veterans for Traumatic Brain Injury and other general health conditions
  • Submit standardized reporting/disability benefits questionnaires (DBQs) within 48 hours post-exam
  • No prescribing, no ongoing treatment
Schedule:
  • PRN basis: Ongoing need for coverage
  • Option to work:
    • Half-days (4 hours)
    • Full days (8 hours)
  • Two options for coverage:
    • Travel to perform exams at designated facility
    • Schedule Veterans within your own practice
Key Features:
  • No Emergency/Temp Privileges required
  • Quick credentialing and onboarding process
  • No narrative reporting required, only standardized forms (DBQs)
  • Exams primarily focus on assessing physical abilities such as range of motion and muscle strength
  • Goniometer use is required for testing
  • Experience with musculoskeletal, diabetes, and cardio assessments is preferred
  • Proficient in METs testing and evaluating conditions related to respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems
  • Physicians must use their own laptop for documentation (NO MACs allowed)
Requirements:
  • Must be Board Certified in one of the following:
    • Neurology
    • Neurosurgery
    • PM&R (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation)
  • State License: Active New York license required
  • Familiarity with Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) is preferred (training will be provided)
  • Ability to submit final DBQ reports within 48 hours of exam completion
