Summary:

The Training and Development Specialist will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing training and development programs for the Gaming Division of North Star Mohican Casino Resort. This role involves working closely with human resources and gaming management to ensure that training programs effectively meet departmental needs and enhance overall employee performance. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a positive, customer-focused atmosphere and contributing to a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities :Assess, plan, develop, and deliver individual and group training programs utilizing various technical, operational, and management tools.Assist in creating and reviewing training curricula, outlines, and instructional materials.Evaluate and recommend external vendor programs to meet training objectives.Create and prepare teaching aids, visual materials, computer tutorials (E-Learning/LMS), and reference materials tailored to specific training goals.Implement and revise instructional methods based on evaluation data.Evaluate training programs using data to recommend changes and improvements.Assist in planning and implementing departmental training goals aligned with strategic objectives.Develop and update procedural documents, newsletters, and training materials.Maintain effective communication with Gaming personnel and external customers.Handle course registration, attendance, evaluations, and data entry into training databases.Generate reports as needed by HR Manager/Director of HR, or other management members.Stay current with industry trends and best practices by attending seminars, workshops, and conferences.Maintain a well-organized training library and inventory.Provide exceptional service to all internal and external customers, maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere.Adhere to Tribal Personnel Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Gaming Division Policies.Maintain confidentiality and meet professional standards.Qualifications & Education :

High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Training, Education, Human Resources, or a related field is required; bachelor's degree is preferred.Minimum of two (2) years of experience in developing and delivering training or educational programs.Alternatively, a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.In-depth understanding of adult learning principles and various training methods.Proficiency in instructional design, training program evaluation, and the ability to adapt methods to meet diverse needs.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent organizational and human relations abilities.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Windows applications.Experience with UKG or similar systems is preferred.Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage stressful conditions with composure.Knowledge or experience with tribal laws and ordinances, EEO, state, federal and local laws related to casino gaming regulations highly desirable.Must obtain and maintain a Mohican Nation Gaming License; undergo and pass a Criminal Investigation Background Check (CIB), as well as pre-employment drug and health screenings.Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.Demonstrated ability to work courteously and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Willingness to attend all required training sessions.Eligibility for coverage under the employer's liability insurance and must be at least 18 years of age.Work Conditions :

Frequently sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, reach with hands and arms.Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, reach above shoulder level, push/pull, crawl and lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds with assistance.Work is generally performed in an office setting and occasionally in a casino setting with a higher noise level and where cigarette smoke is prevalent.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus, with the aid of prescription glasses/contacts, if needed.The work environment is nonsmoking, noise level varied, and dust free.
