At Ossium, we empower our employees, maintain the highest standards of operational excellence, and are a force for good.About the JobWe're hiring a Sterile Processing Technician who will manage sterilization, inventory, and distribution of critical equipment and tools to ensure that our Clinical Production team has everything they need to process and bank life-saving bone marrow. In this role, you'll be responsible for a variety of equipment cleaning and sterilization operations in addition to clerical functions to keep operations running smoothly in our facility. This is a hands-on role, and we'll train you on Good Documentation Practices, preparing tools for sterilization, and other tasks which are key for our biotech manufacturing facility.This role reports to the Floor Supervisor, Sterile Processing and will work closely with the Clinical Production team.Required QualificationsHigh School DiplomaExcellent written and oral communication skillsCapability to operate with a high level of organization and excellent time management in a dynamic startup environmentThis is an hourly, non-exempt role based in our Indianapolis facilityThis role requires some weekend and holiday shiftsKey ResponsibilitiesClean, wrap, and sterilize equipment and tools used in tissue/bone marrow processing via manual methods and automated equipment operationInspect processed equipment and tools for form and function, ensuring acceptability for re-use or escalating to the equipment team for repair/replacementAssemble kits of equipment and tools, staging necessary materials for upcoming shiftsMaintain sufficient inventory of sterile equipment and tools, and ensure an adequate inventory of components is available for each manufacturing processComply with established policies and procedures, including safety, sanitization, and gowning, and follow all regulatory requirements (GTPs & OSHA).Assist Clinical Production teams with active processes and participate in issue resolutionSupport the site's contamination control strategy by maintaining cleanliness of controlled and classified areasDocument all activities and record results following Good Documentation PracticesIn your first six months some projects you'll work on include:Training on gowning and cleaning practices for the classified areasShadowing Clinical Production personnel to learn their general processesAssisting in the development of improved tool cleaning and sterilization proceduresLearning the basics of safety, sterility, and the general flow of our methods and operationsPhysical RequirementsRequires training in blood borne pathogen safety measuresRequires use of cryogenic substances (liquid nitrogen); training in the use of liquid nitrogen is required and providedMust be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning (ie. over the head, hands, feet and body)Must be able to work in a moderately noisy environmentMust be able to work around biohazardous materials and chemicals Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 25 lbsMust be able to use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, and controlsMust be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
