Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThis is a full-time hourly position and is scheduled to work 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Friday thru Monday Thru FridayThe Material Handler performs all of the tasks involved in shipping finished product and receiving raw materials inventory. Handles the proper loading and unloading of freight shipments. Ensures that product is packaged appropriately for shipment to customer and that trucks trailers are compliant with food safety regulations. Confirms that all bills of lading and shipping documents are completed to specifications and compliant with all regulations. May perform scale up duties including staging of loads for production lines and inventory control. Follows all established procedures for taking items in and out of inventory. Observes all safety regulations, work rules, SOP's and company policies. Ensures that all BRC, GMP and safety standards are followed. Major AccountabilitiesCompetent operation of forklift, scissor lift, pallet jack etc. Responsible for loading and shipping the correct items. Responsible for sending all necessary paperwork with shipments.Responsible for verifying that all appropriate paperwork is received with incoming shipments. Responsible for confirming that all required seals are in place on incoming shipments, prior to unloading material.Responsible for ensuring that dock locks are in place.Responsible for effective inventory management.Responsible for completing all documents in an accurate manner.Responsible for following all written instructions.Responsible for complying with all safety regulations, food safety procedures including all BRC and GMP requirements and specifications, and use of the appropriate PPE.Generalized TasksPack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or record keeping purposes.Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or non-conformance to specifications.Follow recipe instructions in order to gather, organize, weigh and measure all ingredients required to produce a specific batch of product, including large and small flavor room items along with full pallets of sugar, flour, starch etc.Complete all associated paperwork in order to verify that the correct ingredients in the correct amounts have been transferred to the proper production line. Record and verify batch numbers, amounts and dates on all ingredients supplied to production. Place ingredients on pallets to be transported to production line. Transport ingredients using forklifts, carts and other means. Participate in manual inventory counts.Perform safety inspections in manufacturing or industrial setting.Other duties as assigned.RequirementsExperience: 2 years of experience in manufacturing, warehouse or related environment preferred. Education: High School Diploma or the equivalent Skills: Requires the use of telephones, paging system, PC, timekeeping, copying and other office machines and equipment. Good mathematical abilities, computer proficiency, competency with scanner gun and inventory management software.Physical DemandsAbility to safely operate forklift and various other lifting equipment.Ability to lift 50 Lbs. repetitively throughout the day.Must be able to ascend and descend steps.Position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, manual dexterity, ability to see details at close range and to differentiate colors, ability to listen to and understand spoken words and phrases, ability to communicate information verbally, ability to read and understand ideas presented in writing, ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so that others will understand. Must possess the physical abilities to meet standards of a Level 3 Medium Work Job as defined by the U. S. Department of Labor.Working EnvironmentIndoors manufacturing facility; the use of hearing protection is required, along with other personal protective equipment as necessary.
