As a Junior Regulatory Counsel at Sovos, you’ll dive into the ever-evolving world of global transaction tax. Here, your expertise will shape our tax calculation and compliance products—no trial briefs, just high-impact research in a fast-paced, constantly changing industry. The Junior Regulatory Counsel is responsible for providing substantive research and analysis of transaction tax laws globally. As part of the Regulatory Analysis team, your research will form the foundation of our tax calculation and compliance products, ensuring accuracy and reliability for our customers.More specifically, you will:Monitor and analyze global legislative and regulatory developments in transaction tax.Assess the impact of these changes on Sovos’ systems and communicate findings to the Regulatory Content team.Conduct research for new tax content projects and determine proper tax treatments.Use legal research tools to provide clear, accurate tax analysis with appropriate citations.Simplify complex tax rules for both tax and non-tax professionals.Build relationships with tax authorities worldwide.Respond to client inquiries regarding transaction taxability under state or national law.Support Sovos’ commitment to integrity, customer satisfaction, and teamwork.Take initiative, drive for results, and demonstrate a commitment to personal growth.What We Need From YouJuris Doctor (JD) degree and bar admission in at least one state (pending admissions acceptable).Strong research, analysis, and writing skills.Ability to read and interpret tax-related documents.Attention to detail is critical.Additional language skills are a plus.Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and customers.Comfortable using technology (e.g., phone systems, software applications).Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test prior to start.What Does Sovos Offer You?Flexible Time-OffComprehensive Health, Dental and Vision benefits401(k) with employee sponsored matchBi-Weekly Meeting Free DaysMentoring ProgramsGlobally recognized Training and Development programsTuition Reimbursement, Time off to Volunteer, Charitable Giving Match, and more!Sovos is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing an environment that celebrates diversity and where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and employees.
