About the Role:The Head of Business Development will collaborate with cross functional partners and the executive management team to implement commercial deals that drive long term growth for 10x. This position will play a leading role in identifying market securing and expanding opportunities that align with the 10x portfolio and capabilities, and building a partnership strategy that targets key organizations and the terms required to progress these opportunities forward. Reporting into the Commercial Organization, Business Development will support initiatives that drive long-term revenue with a focus on clinical strategy, pharma partnerships and precision medicine, as well as other complex and high volume commercial relationships.Individuals applying for this position must be self-starters, strategic thinkers, action driven, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at managing multiple priorities, succeed in communicating with all levels within the organization and provide immediate and long-term contribution.What you will be doing:Assess existing relationships, build out and/or formalize identification of KOL and KOL accounts and develop a sustainable tracking and engagement plan for the highest strategic customers and institutions.Drive commercial partnership strategy development. Collaboratively drive development of long-term and short-term strategies to advance 10x Genomics’ positioning in the marketplace against key initiatives, and work with key stakeholders across the company to continuously enhance the process for commercial planning with an emphasis on:Exploring and evaluating clinical utilization with key partnersBuilding and executing a pharma focused pipeline to drive the utilization of platforms for pharma and companion Dx partnershipsPartner with Sales and Marketing to capture large commercial research and translational opportunities and collaborationsTranslate external (customer) needs to internal teams and support assessment of prioritization of strategy in platform developmentBuild out and manage the framework for developing ideal partnership terms, lifetime value modeling, target partners for each initiative.Execute partnerships. Source and effectively negotiate successful outcomes for potential commercial and strategic partnerships and collaborations with agreements that create value towards 10x’s strategic and financial objectives, while interfacing with cross functional 10x team members such as Legal, Finance, Marketing, Sales, and R&D. Bridge across these functional roles to ensure clarity in responsible, accountable, consulted and informed roles in key partnerships.In partnership with Sales and Marketing, manage and grow the ongoing relationship with key partners while leveraging these relationships to expand within the ecosystem.Collaborate on market assessments and market messaging. Partner with Marketing to drive strategic market assessments and support messaging across all business fields, regions, and customer segments in a structured manner.Minimum Requirements:Minimum of advanced degree in genetics, genomics, or related field and/or MBA with 10+ years of experience in the life sciences, genomics, or biopharmaceutical industries.Strong scientific, technical and business acumen in genomics, NGS (next generation sequencing), and/or molecular diagnostics; oncology expertise (including immuno-oncology) strongly preferred.Excellent analytical, project management and organizational skills with the ability to make sound business judgments.Strong collaboration and communication skills as demonstrated by ability to work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders.Experience in conducting financial analysis and championing the business case with Senior Management.Experience of setting up complex deal structure with ability to:draft term sheet independentlyeffectively assess and communicate risk and rewards of partnership to support a clear go/no go decisionleverage internal cross-functional team to capture and communicate translation of terms to agreementsTrack record of driving agreements to execution including structuring, leading, and closing negotiations.Strategic thinker who can help chart the course for the company, with demonstrated success defining the vision, strategies, and tactics to drive growth.Energetic, resourceful self-starter with high integrity, strong executive presence and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.Flexibility to travel up to 40%.Please submit a deal sheet together with your resume.
