A Day in the LifeMedtronic is looking for a highly experienced and motivated Senior Principal Cloud Architect to lead and shape our cloud infrastructure strategy and operations. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in cloud technologies, enterprise application integrations, and automation. As a Senior Principal Cloud Architect, you will bring extensive experience in cloud architecture and management, particularly with SAP, Salesforce, and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence), as well as strong skills in scripting and automation. You will be responsible for developing cloud strategies, optimizing cloud infrastructure, driving digital transformation initiatives, and ensuring alignment with Agile and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices. This role also requires proficiency in cloud cost optimization, multi-cloud and hybrid strategies, cloud migration planning, and data management integration.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of multi-cloud and hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions for complex, high-availability applications to support business scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.

Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud strategy and roadmap, optimizing cloud environments through evaluation of services and technology stacks to ensure peak performance and availability.

Architect and implement integrations between cloud environments and enterprise applications like SAP, Salesforce, and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence), enabling seamless data flow and business process efficiency.

Drive cloud migration initiatives, including planning, strategy development, and execution (rehost, refactor, replatform), using tools such as AWS Migration Hub, Azure Migrate, and Google Cloud Migrate.

Develop automation frameworks using scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM to automate deployments and operational tasks.

Implement self-healing and auto-remediation solutions, incorporating best practices in security and monitoring to improve system reliability, reduce manual intervention, and enhance overall security posture.

Lead cloud financial management (FinOps) efforts by implementing cost optimization strategies, managing cloud expenditure, and providing transparency and governance for cloud spend.

Design and implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to track application performance, system health, and security events, ensuring optimal operations and rapid troubleshooting.

Develop and implement data management and governance frameworks to ensure data security, quality, and compliance, integrating business intelligence tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker for analytics.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate Agile methodologies and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, driving continuous improvement in software delivery and cloud operations.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship, acting as a subject matter expert for cloud technologies and guiding teams in best practices, innovation, and cloud adoption strategies.

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, influencing cloud strategy and driving digital transformation initiatives that align with business goals and technology trends, such as AI/ML, IoT, and edge computing.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

Strong experience in cloud architecture design, with a focus on enterprise-grade applications and infrastructure.

Advanced knowledge of integrating enterprise applications such as SAP and Salesforce within cloud environments.

Proficiency in automation and scripting using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Deep understanding of cloud security best practices, identity and access management, and compliance standards.

Strong understanding of Agile and SRE principles, with experience in implementing Agile methodologies and SRE practices within an organization.

Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager.

Expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities with a focus on performance optimization and cost management.

Proven track record in leading cloud migrations, multi-cloud strategies, and integrating emerging technologies.

Advanced skills in cloud networking and connectivity solutions for secure and high-performance cloud environments.

Familiarity with data analytics platforms and data integration strategies.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires 10+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 8+ years of experience with an advanced degree or 12+ years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in cloud architecture and engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a senior or principal architect capacity.

Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and a strong understanding of multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments.

Advanced scripting skills for automating cloud operations and deployments.

Experience with SAP and Salesforce application architecture and cloud-based deployments.

Strong proficiency in Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) integration and optimization.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.

Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.

SAP and Salesforce certifications are highly desirable.

Experience with implementing DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.

Familiarity with data analytics platforms and integration solutions.

Experience in setting up cloud governance frameworks and driving cloud adoption at an enterprise scale.

Experience with industry security standards and regulations, such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, or HIPAA.

Certifications or expertise in cloud security, such as Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$141,600.00 - $212,400.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
