Jupiter Medical Center is the only hospital in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties to receive a 4-star quality and safety rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).Schedule: WEEKENDS ONLYEducationHigh School Graduate or EquivalentSterile Processing program completedSterile Processing Certification is required.Experience / QualificationsMin of 2 years of prior hospital experienceContinue training on the job to prepare for courses or certification.Position SummaryAnalyze OR schedule to identify instrument needs.Remove soiled equipment from Patient Care Units, Surgery, LD, and ED if necessary.Assist with the operation of all sterile processing equipment, including washers, decontaminators, steam sterilizers, ultrasonics, incubators, Sterrad and Steris sterilizers, and heat sealers by the instructions of the manufacturer.The decontamination of instruments and equipment is done per hospital policy, and the wear of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the decontamination area.Maintain good sterile core hygiene and re-stock per hospital policy, demonstrate competence in operating all equipment by attending in-services, and keep up to date on new equipment and products.Create accurate and complete case carts using resource maps and pick tickets.As needed, replace inventory, and put away return supplies to maintain sterility.Maintain inventory and process instruments using instrument tracking software.Inspect and maintain instruments to ensure they are working properly.Ensure sterility is established and maintained.Records of sterilization must be maintained.Participate in inventory management.Work assignments in the department should be organized daily.Ensure sterilization logs are filed and maintained properly.Schedule sharpening of instruments.In charge of receiving products and placing orders for new ones.Maintain communication with the Operating Room Manager.Acknowledge the influence of beliefs and cultures on behavior and accept the strengths and limitations of others.Demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, self-control, and maturity in work and behavior.Respond calmly to emergencies or stressful situations.Identify situations that require supervisor notification.In addition to the above, performs other duties as needed.
