The Quality Team is a matrix organization within Beyond Meat that is dedicated to creating food products that are leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team located in Columbia, MO as a Sanitation Specialist.
The Sanitation Specialist's primary responsibility is leading both Production and Quality through sanitation. Ensuring an efficient and safe sanitation process, building and updating Standard Cleaning Methods (SCM) and/or work instructions. The Specialist will be responsible for hands-on training and using the best sanitation practices and processes. This role will continuously work towards improving sanitation effectiveness and efficiency.
TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESWork closely with members of EHS, Production, Quality, and Maintenance leadership to coordinate sanitation activities throughout the shiftEstablish and maintain master sanitation program across facilitiesProvide training on the proper handling of chemicals and sanitation techniques to all team membersConduct annual sanitation verification for microbial and allergen controlMaintain and monitor Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) per FDA guidelines on environmental controlEnsure sanitation schedule and all documentation for each shift is completed and filled out properlyComplete chemical titrations per shiftCollaborate and communicate with suppliers on chemical inventory controlMaintain daily / weekly / monthly documents and reports such as, SCM, Work Instructions, and SSOP'sEscalate issues from the production floor to the Quality Assurance leadership teamEnsure inspections, audits and EMP swabbing is complete in a timely mannerAnalyze data for sanitation improvementsConduct Risk Analysis audits around sanitation processesLead team in troubleshooting to find root cause of non-conforming resultsEvaluate trending analysis of ATP results and EMP to verify sanitation performanceLead and meet sanitation goalsPerform audits and support Quality teamAdhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)Performs other duties, as assigned, and follows through on requests in a timely mannerQUALIFICATIONS
Assoicates degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or Biology preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be considered.Minimum 3-5 years proven experience in Quality, Sanitation, or similar role3-5 years' experience in a food and/or beverage manufacturing environmentKnowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, SDS, 5S, RCA, GMP, FDA, SSOP's, GFSI, SQF, and chemical safetyAbility to understand and comply with government regulationsMust have the ability to quantitatively review technical procedures and representative regulationsOther qualifications:
Capable of providing detailed reports, general day-to-day oversight, and related correspondence.Demonstrate process/procedure development and implementationStrong mathematical skillsStrong PC skills, including MS office programsExcellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsWORK ENVIRONMENT
Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas.The work environment is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, must be able to lift minimal 50 lbs. consistently, reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks.Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasks.Position located in a mix of production and office environments and requires a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10-40° F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures.This position will be required to perform duties in the production environment, refrigerated and frozen storage, and warehouses.Work flexible shifts as required.Understand that overtime and occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will be required based on company needs.
**Hourly rate commensurate with experience**
The starting hourly base pay for this role is between USD $24.75 and $30.00 per hour. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits.
