About the Role
Gap is looking for an experienced entertainment commercial transactions attorney to join its Global Legal team. This position will work closely and provide strategic legal guidance to business partners for each of Gap’s purpose-led, billion-dollar lifestyle brands, Gap, Old Navy, Athleta, and Banana Republic, as well as corporate functional teams including marketing, communications, procurement, technology, privacy, information security, finance, strategy, and human resources. The ideal candidate is a solution-oriented strategic thinker with sound judgement, who will provide practical guidance and manage multiple complex and high value matters simultaneously and often under time pressure. The role will report to the Senior Director, AGC and leader of the Commercial Contracts Legal Team based in California.What You'll Do
Proactively engage with and support business partners on marketing initiatives, creative services, and talent engagements to ensure compliance with applicable law and regulations.Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements related to marketing initiatives, creative services, talent services, design collaborations, consulting services, new media, influencers, models, photographers, technology, finance, and e-commerce.Provide guidance on matters related to the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) including contract negotiations and compliance with union regulations.Possess a learning and “can do” mindset with a willingness to adapt and support new areas of work.Manage numerous projects and complex matters simultaneously under deadline pressure.Support the Head of Commercial Contracts Legal as appropriate in the evolution of our contract process and policies to enhance efficiency working with internal partners.Who You Are
JD Required; Licensed to practice law in the US with 7+ years of experience in a reputable law firm and/or multinational companies required; in-house experience greatly preferred.Experience in drafting, negotiating, counseling, and problem-solving a broad range of commercial transactions, in particular agreements relating to marketing and advertising, influencer and other talent services, consulting services, and other partnerships is required.Experience working in digital media, including agencies and platforms, is a plus.In-house experience and/or retail, commercial or consumer products experience is a plus.Practical mindset with the demonstrated ability to provide strategic counseling to business partners that balances legal considerations and business objectives, cutting through complexities deftly and driving to solutions.Excellent communication, collaboration, counseling, decision-making, problem-solving, and influencing skills.Emotional intelligence and ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders at all levels and effectively navigate complex organizations.Ability to handle multiple complex matters concurrently and often under time pressure, and effectively prioritize work to efficiently achieve business objectives.Excellent judgment and integrity with a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, and community involvement/pro-bono work.
