Job Summary
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our company's internal infrastructure, which includes both cloud-based and on-premises systems. The role will focus on ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and scalable while contributing to infrastructure projects, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with senior engineers. This position will also work on the automation of routine tasks and drive improvements in infrastructure performance.
Primary Responsibilities
Support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of on-prem and cloud based servers, networks, and systemsAssist in the deployment and administration of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)Manage cloud services on AWS and Azure, ensuring internal systems remain available and scalableMonitor internal infrastructure performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and resolve incidentsPerform regular system maintenance, including patching, updates, and backups, to protect internal dataCollaborate with senior engineers to enhance internal infrastructure and streamline processesDocument all system changes, configurations, and incidents following internal IT standardsParticipate in IT incident responses to resolve issues impacting internal operationsStay updated with industry trends through ongoing training and developmentEnsure system security and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and other security systemsProvide technical support to internal users and other IT teamsJob Specifications
Basic Understanding of Project Management: Demonstrates an understanding of core project management concepts, including project planning, risk management, scheduling, and stakeholder engagement.Basic Knowledge of Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile processes such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.Collaboration: Works well in a team environment, actively contributing to discussions and providing solutions to project-related challenges.Problem Solving: Thrives as an outside-the-box thinker who can troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.Self-Motivation: Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and complete tasks with limited supervision.Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills, including the ability to lead small group meetings.Technical Aptitude: Familiar with Technical details related to IT Service Teams, different SaaS applications, project management tools, and proficient with Microsoft Office toolset.Education and Experience
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience:
3-5 years of relevant hands-on experience in IT infrastructure management (entry-level roles are acceptable).Basic knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and its role in corporate infrastructure.Familiarity with operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and standard internal administration tasks.Understanding of virtualization tools and methodologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is preferred but not required.Skills & Competencies:
Technical Proficiency:
Knowledge of networking protocols and configurations, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls.Extensive experience with virtualization platforms and cloud infrastructure services.Solid understanding of Active Directory, Windows Servers, Linux environments, and cloud-based deployments.Experience with system monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Splunk).Experience with change control and implementation procedures.Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues promptly.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.Detail-oriented with good documentation habits to ensure proper tracking of changes and incidents.Adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
Certifications (Preferred):
CompTIA Certifications: A+, Network+, or similar foundational certifications.
Cloud Certifications: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals.
Virtualization Certifications: VMware Certified Associate (VCA), or other related qualifications.
