Job Details:

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Finance to join our dedicated team in an educational setting. This is a full-time, permanent role, requiring the successful candidate to work onsite. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in strategic decision-making and operations as they lead and support the finance function. This role will report directly to the Head of School and will be an integral part of the senior leadership team.

Responsibilities:

As the Director of Finance, your main responsibilities will include:

  1. Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  2. Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the Board's Audit Committee and the external auditors as necessary.
  3. Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
  4. Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
  5. Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting.
  6. Manage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy.
  7. Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  8. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation.
  9. Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate.
  10. Assist the Head of School with financial reporting as required at Board meetings and the Annual General Meetings.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. An MBA or related advanced degree is preferred.
  2. A minimum of one years of financial management experience, in an educational setting administering state and federal financial aid
  3. Professional accounting designation preferred (CA, CMA, or CPA).
  4. Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  5. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  6. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  7. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  8. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  9. Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
