Position Title: Vice President of Academic Affairs

Unit: Non-Unit Professional (NUP)

Reports To: President

The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the academic integrity and excellence of the institution. The VPAA provides strategic direction for academic programs, policies, and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the institution's mission, vision, and goals. This position involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to foster an environment of academic innovation, excellence, and equity.


Job Requirements:

Academic Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement academic policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Lead the academic planning process, including curriculum development and academic program review.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Faculty Development and Management:

  • Oversee faculty recruitment, retention, development, and evaluation.
  • Promote professional development opportunities and support for faculty.
  • Encourage and support faculty research, scholarship, and creative activities.

Accreditation and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and requirements.
  • Lead the institution's accreditation and reaccreditation processes.
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations impacting higher education.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the academic affairs budget.
  • Allocate resources to support academic priorities and initiatives.
  • Seek external funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships.

Collaboration and Partnerships:

  • Foster collaborative relationships with other institutions, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Represent the institution in academic consortia, conferences, and professional organizations.
  • Promote interdisciplinary and cross-functional collaboration within the institution.

Assessment and Institutional Research:

  • Oversee the assessment of student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Utilize data and institutional research to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Promote a culture of evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

  • Champion initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic community.
  • Ensure equitable access to academic resources and opportunities for all students and faculty.
  • Address and mitigate barriers to student and faculty success.

Qualifications:

Education: An earned doctorate or terminal degree in an academic discipline.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive academic leadership experience, preferably in higher education.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and management skills.

Additional Information:

Compensation: $170,000-$184,000.00 (Commensurate with experience and qualifications)
