Job Description
Job SummaryThis position advances Veolia's GreenUp goals of promoting sustainability and improving the environment by reducing water usage and carbon emissions within our company and for our customers.The position is based in the Technology or R&D department in Minnetonka, MN, and also involves travel to other Veolia and customers sites that will test or implement our new membrane separation products.The work is mostly on site, and requires working with internal and external manufacturing and project teams as well as Technologists. The position reports to the Manager of Membrane Technology and works largely independently with the manager while helping to build a new team and membrane product line. The job involves strong chemical and mechanical engineer skills, manufacturing and production engineering aptitude, as well as interest in research and product development.

Duties & Responsibilities•Lead pilot testing of separation membrane applications in-house and at customer sites, including travel up to about 20% of the time.
•Develop and conduct process simulations to model membrane performance and optimize flow sheet design for specific applications.•Scale up membrane and module production processes from pilot scale to productiono Lead design and modification of production equipment to enable manufacture of newproducts
•Design and build test equipment for separation membraneso Optimizes design of modules using CFD and similar design optimization tools, as well asexperiments to verify design performance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:•Knowledge: .o Chemical Engineering, including separations fundamental and modelingo Mechanical design principles for industrial separations equipment•Skills: Practical abilities developed through training, education, or experience.o Good communication and presentation skillso Use and development of process simulation softwareo Project management acumeno Design and drawing skills for equipment, ability to make P&ID'so Ability to use computational fluid dynamics software to optimize membrane moduledesign•Abilities:o Mechanical aptitude in building, troubleshooting and servicing equipmento Creativity in design and implementation of new equipment.
Qualifications
Education & ExperienceRequired:•BS, MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, orMembrane Science or similar area.•Industrial work experience for BS or MS candidates of 5-10 years, PhD candidates withoutindustrial work experience will be consideredPreferred:•Licensed professional engineering certificate•Project management experience
