Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Nursing, the Head Nurse ts responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the quality of care rendered in Radiology Department. As Head Nurse, she/he has the authority and responsibility of managing the unit in order to guarantee quality of care for every patient assigned to the unit and is held accountable by the use of the nursing process. She/He is responsible for the implementation of the Nursing Department's Philosophy and Objective of Nursing Care in the management of nursing care in the Radiology Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receives report by making walking rounds with incoming/outgoing staff.Coordinates patient care by collaborating wilt) the multidisciplinary teamAssess each patient needs and establishes appropriate plan of care based on Nursing Assessment and Diagnosis.Maintains standards of care by ensuring that an individualized plan of care for each patient is developed and implementedEvaluates Nursing Care Plans and the patient's response to that intervention, and make modifications as needed.Delegates assignments based on staff competence and complexity of caseSupervises and assists the staff in patient assessments, documentation, implementation and evaluation of Nursing Care Plan.Supervision of professional and non-professional personnel.Makes daily rounds to check accuracy of the following

Responsibilities1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and2. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); and3. One (1) year of experience as a registered nurse.
