DescriptionAmazon is looking for a detail-oriented, high-judgement, quick-thinking News Monitoring Specialist to join Amazon’s Corporate Communications team. This foundational position supports our global public relations efforts by monitoring online news sources, forums, and social media channels to identify high-impact stories and narratives relevant to Amazon's business. The Specialist will leverage advanced search strategies and data analysis tools to sift through the Internet noise with an eagle eye for topics that are relevant to our businesses, and have the ability to develop insights from data and influence strategic decision-making.A critical part of the role will be building and maintaining strong partnerships with communications teams across the Corporate Communications organization. The ideal candidate will analyze monitoring data to identify emerging media trends. With a keen eye for high-priority stories, they will be responsible for ensuring timely escalation to communications leadership, enabling rapid response. Through continuous innovation and process improvements, the ideal candidate will drive enhancements to the monitoring function, keeping it best-in-class.The ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to work in a global team environment, problem solve and possess a can-do attitude, and exercise sound judgement and critical thinking. This role requires the ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and switch gears at a moment's notice; previous experience in a fast-paced news or public relations environment is preferred. The candidate must be highly organized and react with appropriate professionalism and urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround. The successful candidate will plan-ahead, look around corners, manage their time effectively, and take initiative when they see a process is inefficient or broken and manage breaking news situations effectively.
