Job Description & Requirements Specialty: NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/11/2024 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel description JOB DETAILS: Providing round-the-clock care to premature and severely ill newborn infants. Caring for the basic needs of infants; for example, feeding and changing diapers. Performing medical procedures; for example, inserting intravenous lines, performing tests, and administering medications. Assisting the NICU physicians in medical procedures and treatments. Using and adjusting specialized medical equipment. Formulating nursing plans and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments. Comforting ill newborns and anxious parents and family members. Offering support to parents and family members and educating them on the at-home care of their newborn. REQUIRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP: Ratios: 1:2 Years of experience REQ: 2 years First-timers accepted: Yes Weekend REQ: Equivalent to every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday) plus 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule Certs REQ: BCLS, NRP, Fire & Life Safety Card Is on-call REQ?: No Will this traveler need to float between like units? Yes, nursery role, transition role. This is not a routine occurrence; it may not be needed. If it becomes a potential to float, it would be "baby transition nurse," only if delivery volumes are high. The responsibilities would the ability to care for baby after the initial birth. This would include routine baby care/vitals, head to toe assessment, skin to skin, breastfeeding, routine labs.
