JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for providing proactive support of food safety compliance within the Company. This role will also be responsible for reviewing and maintaining technical and regulatory information pertaining to the GFSI standards. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will ensure that the organization complies with regulatory requirements of USDA, FDA, State and local authorities.

Job Duties:Conduct walk throughs of the operating unitChecks equipment accuracy through calibrationsProvide technical and regulatory support for major programs and projectsAssist with internal quality audit functions and ensure effectiveness of the corrective and preventative action process within the framework of the company's Quality Management SystemAttend site leadership meetings to drive continuous improvement in: sanitation, food safety, quality, and preventative maintenance.Assist with documentation and record keepingExecute corporate food safety compliance strategies, policies, and procedures; maintain open communication with all related departments to address the identification of food safety hazards and process improvement opportunitiesEnsure compliance with applicable food safety regulatory requirements (Federal, State/Provincial and, Local)Maintain effective working relationships with regulatory authorities, industry trade groups, suppliers, owned companies, internal stakeholders, and customersServe as the backup recall contact managing the product recall process to ensure timely communication with customers and execution of product recalls and completion of related documentationAssist with audits for GFSI, customer audits, and other 3rd party audits.Assist with warehouse tours to guests, customers, and vendorsFollow-up promptly and thoroughly on food safety complaints from customers.Monitor regulatory activities and manage compliance with GFSI certification and FSMADeliver program training for all associates and supervisors with direct Food Safety program responsibilitiesPerforms all other duties as assignedEducation

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) is requiredBachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Animal Science, or Supply Chain/Operations from a four-year college preferredHazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training preferredPCQI certification preferred (must be able to obtain with company training)Experience

One year of relevant experience in Distribution Center Food Service Operations, Food Safety & Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Food Production/Operations, Supply Chain, or related discipline preferredKnowledge of regulatory compliance desiredUnderstanding of Food Safety regulations, laws, and best practices including those from FDA, USDA, and other state/provincial/ local entities helpfulBasic knowledge of food microbiology, food safety, and food defense helpfulSkills

Must be able to sit for long periods of time performing administration dutiesMust be able to perform a variety of physical activities (stand / walk / bend / squat / stoop / kneel) on a regular basis when performing audits, inspections, and tours.Travel Requirements
