Overview
This position is responsible for the administration of LAN/WAN technology infrastructure hardware, including routers, switches, radios, VSATs, specialized infrastructure servers, network cabling, etc.
Employee will assist with management of data and voice communications including telecommunication circuits, VPN technologies, data radio, wireless, and satellite communication paths. Communications infrastructure support involves close collaboration with other departments.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to):Perform installation and maintenance of network infrastructure hardware and softwareMonitor network and tune performanceDetect and respond to network outagesResearch and test updates to existing technology; recommend new technologiesRecommend computing and networking standards for the companyBusiness travel and after-hour support may be requiredRequired to carry a company issued cell-phone and may be part of an on call rotationDevelop relationships with customers and vendorsCoordinate infrastructure related projects and teamsTranslate company vision and strategy into individual goalsProject a professional image to internal/external customers and clientsMentor junior team membersWork assignments reviewed upon completionPerform continuous self-improvementPossess thorough understanding of business processes, network protocols, and system architectureInfluence key decisions within departmentOther duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience6+ years of experience in Network or related areaKnowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, including Cisco IP networkingAbility to provide high quality individual assistance to end-users at all levels/ability and ensure a good working relationship is maintained with end-usersStrong problem-solving skillsStrong communication skillsAbility to collaborate with other technical groups to find solutionsA desire to expand current knowledge and skillsWell-organized, willing to take initiative, and work independently
Preferred:Advanced degree or Professional Certification (CCNA, CCIE)Major in business-related fieldKnowledge of Linux, Microsoft Windows, PC hardware, and peripherals
