**Job Description:**- Provide care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but are not unstable enough to require ICU care.- Monitor critical vital signs and detect any changes, enabling intervention in life-threatening or emergency situations.- Care for patients transitioning from the ICU as part of a progressive care unit.- Demonstrate competencies in basic and advanced life support.- Use dysrhythmia monitoring techniques, interpretation, and treatment.- Calculate medication dosages, monitor patient reactions, and administer continuous medication infusions.- Monitor patients using standardized procedures pre-, intra-, and post-procedures such as TEE, cardiac catheterization with PCI, cardioversion, bronchoscopy, EGD, PEG placement, and chest tube insertion.- Recognize symptoms and signs of cardiopulmonary emergencies and initiate standard interventions to stabilize patients.- Set up and troubleshoot hemodynamic monitoring, recognizing signs of patient instability.- Interpret ABGs and communicate findings effectively.- Assess ventilated patients to ensure prescribed treatments are being delivered and properly responded to.- Manage patients requiring non-invasive oxygen delivery systems.- Understand and assess long-term mechanical ventilation and weaning processes.- Manage and assess patients needing renal therapeutic interventions such as hemodialysis.- Recognize indications for and complications of enteral and parenteral nutrition.- Evaluate family needs for involvement in care to aid in patient transition from hospital to home.- Exhibit characteristics such as advocacy, clinical judgment, caring practices, systems thinking, response to diversity, collaboration, and clinical inquiry.- Serve as an educator to patients and families.
