Position Purpose:

Operates the 4' and 6' Castline machines.

Principle Accountabilities

Responsible for the safe, controlled start-up and operation of the 4 foot and 6 foot cast line extruder and process equipment including: starting the machine, engaging the feed, observing the operation, and manages changeover process.Reports production metrics on operator's Daily Production Report via various communication methods and within deadlines (Bundle Output, Scrap, Downtime, Quality, Process Sheet Info).Records all production information in timely manner. (Speed, Run Time, Downtime, Reason for downtime, quality checks, materials used, bundle output). Once order completed Production Report must be released.Runs general operations and mold changes, installing/removing deckles and minimize mold set up times.Maintains blending system including mix recipes.Ensures line running again as quickly as possible whenever a breakdown or mold change occurs.Utilizes trim grinder for scrap reduction throughout shift.Checks Specification Sheet to ensure quality procedures and manufacturing requirements are achieved.Tags and labels products/bundles as per Specification Sheet. Escalates defects and quality issues to Supervisor as they arise.Performs quality checks in accordance with procedure to ensure conformity is met at all levels of production. (Bundles Width, Footage & Weight, Burst Test, Perf Strength Test, Vacuum Test, Slit & Perf Measurements, Mil Thickness w/Micrometer of backing & bubble).Mil Thickness must be performed at the start of shift and monitor as per Gram Weight Procedure.Ensure Mil thickness on backing and bubble sides are checked regularly each run along with Specification Sheet and have Supervisor sign off daily.Ensure manufacturing dates are stamped on label and placed on all bundles produced.Performs visual inspection of products and quality standards are achieved (Bundles Width, Footage, Weight, Vacuum Test, BurstTest, Perf Strength Test, Slit and Perf Measurements, Mil Thickness of backing and bubble).Monitors and adjusts controls to ensure product complies with production standards.Ensures manufacturing date is printed/stamped on product label and placed on all bundles produced.Ensures proper packaging and marking of finished product. Prepare stock area before restocking. Stocks bubble bundles in proper location.Tag and label any uncompleted or partial bundles.Ensures bubble scrap rolls are being feed through Trim Recovery Unit when line is in operation.Records quality and production metrics via written communication methods and within time deadlines as necessary.Documents all scrap bundles, plastic chunks, and loose scrap. Tags and ensures signed off by Shift Supervisor before placing at Reclaim Area.Return all additives to stock from work area not in use (Tackifier, Slip, Color and Repro). All empty loads must be laid flat and stage in designated area before the end of shift.Empty hoppers / blenders of color changes before switching. When shutting down machinery, ensures hoppers, blender, and barrels are empty.Ensures product changes and orders are signed off by Supervisor.Communicates with incoming shift personnel on machine conditions, problems, and bundle stock locations.Maintains machinery and equipment are in safe operating condition. Assists in maintaining equipment through completion of assigned preventative maintenance tasks and minor repair techniques as required.Follows all safety policies and procedures including Personal Protective Equipment requirements, safety trainings, and reporting.Actively participates in all safety programs/initiatives.Maintains area to 5S standards prior to end of shift (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain).Assists with training activities as needed.Instructs operator and line assistant in all production-based tasks.Acts as a fill in for Lead when necessary.Related tasks as requested by Supervisor or Manager.

Essential Skills and Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.Prior manufacturing experienced required. Working with ConAir Blender (Sentral Loader Control), ConAir Franklin Gravimetric (BatchBlender), Rexroth Control Display and Rexroth Footage Meter Control preferred.Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.Intermediate computer and math skills required.Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time required.Ability to regularly lift large lightweight items above head required.Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis.Safety mindset required.
