Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide advanced technical assistance and guidance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and performance analysis of all pipeline, compressor station and processing plant equipment.
Responsibilities
Provide advanced technical assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and performance analysis of all pipeline, compressor station and processing plant equipment and develop solutions that resolve chronic mechanical problems. (10%) Conduct field reviews to assure compliance with environmental permits, manufacturer's and performance specifications. (5-10%) Conduct analysis of equipment failures and develop technical advisories and recommendations to prevent recurrence. (5-10%) Establish standards for performance of engine and compressor automation controls. Develop solutions. (10-15%) Research and evaluate tools, operating equipment, analytical equipment and emerging technologies. (10%) Coordinate engine analysis, compressor performance, oil sampling and other predictive and preventive maintenance activities. (10-15%) Maintain records, compile reports and conduct analyses using a computer-based maintenance management system. (10%) Identify, coordinate with, and inspect the work of third party contractors. (10%) Assist in project budget development, prioritization and reporting. (5%) Assist in the development and implementation of predictive maintenance best practices. (5%) Assist in development of team members and in their performance improvement efforts. (0-5%) Participate in factory acceptance and commissioning of compression equipment automation programs. (0-5%) Provide technical leadership to staff. (0-5%) Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. (0 -5%) Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0 - 5%)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, business administration or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) Eight or more years of related technical mechanical experience and level 3 mechanical skill block or equivalent for senior level; five or more years of related technical mechanical experience and level 3 mechanical skill block or equivalent for analyst level. Thorough knowledge of compressors and drivers of both turbine and reciprocating design. Ability to use and interpret drawings, schematics, technical data and similar documentation. Working knowledge of applicable regulations (DOT, EPA, OSHA, etc), engineering standards, policies and procedures. Excellent analytical skills necessary to identify, evaluate and resolve mechanical problems. Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, etc) and ability to learn new applications. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment. Subject to high temperatures and loud noises in engine rooms and exposure to high and low temperatures, and icy/snowy weather conditions.
