Fairview Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has a dedicated team of caregivers that provide the highest quality, family-centered care to ill neonate and extremely low birth weight infants. This unit provides 24-hour neonatology services, evidence-based nursing practice, and advanced respiratory care, such as high-frequency ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide. A caregiver in this position works 7:00PM - 7:30AM with on-call requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care.Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions.Administer prescribed medications and treatments.Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.Educate patients and their families.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).One-year of current acute care RN experience.
