Job Summary

:

The Scheduling Rep accurately schedules all surgical procedures and/or high-end diagnostic imaging tests (MRI's, CT's, etc.) for assigned provider(s). The Scheduling Rep is responsible for obtaining prior authorization from payers for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures provided by RSF Physician Partners. The scheduling rep assures that all of the appropriate clinical, insurance, and coding information is collected prior to surgery and/or the scheduling of the diagnostic imaging test. The scheduler ensures surgeries are booked based on physician volume maintaining appropriate standard operating room turn-around times. This role also is key to securing reimbursement and minimizing organizational write offs. When an authorization cannot be obtained, the Scheduling Rep must be able to communicate such and guide staff, providers, and/or patients on the options and complete the necessary steps to bring closure to the case. The Scheduling Rep must consistently demonstrate skilled communication and troubleshooting techniques as well as excellent customer service skills. Works closely with patients, physicians, and surgery locations to provide accurate, timely, and responsive information.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:

High school degree or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

At least three year's work experience in a medical physician office, or billing agency, with knowledge in medical terminology and billing. Work experience involving CPT coding and ICD-10 coding is preferred. Excellent customer service skills.

None required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Basic computer skills required, PC and Windows experience preferred. Requires use of general office equipment. Extensive attention to detail is a must, along with a sense of urgency. Requires working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT4 coding and guidelines and principles. Requires knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology required. Requires the ability to work independently and as a team member. Requires ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Requires the ability to effectively communicate with clientele and other personnel, especially physicians. Professional presentation required and candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills.
