**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit

**Job Specialty:** Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

**Job Duration:** 12 weeks

**Shift:** 19:00-07:30

**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum of 1 year in Acute Care, particularly in Cardiac/PCU settings with telemetry, post Cath/EP procedures, low-level drips, nitro, milrinone, dobutamine, and Cardizem experience.

**License:** Registered Nurse, State of Pennsylvania

**Certifications:**- AHA BLS - Basic Life Support Certification- AHA ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification- AHA NIHSS Certification

**Must-Have:**- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program- Progressive/step-down experience- Ability to perform phlebotomy, IV starts- Cardiac rhythm interpretation, drip management (amiodarone, Cardizem, heparin, insulin)- Chest tube and epidural/PCA management- Experience with fall and pressure injury prevention- Proficiency with telemetry systems- Experience with EPIC

**Job Description:**

- Provide professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.- Direct and manage the care of designated patients.- Utilize effective and appropriate communication styles.- Assist in maintaining a safe work environment and ensure clinical competencies are met.- Float between progressive units and occasionally med/surg units.- Care for cardiothoracic/post cardiac surgery patients, valve replacements, post-mitraclip interventions, lung resections, and patients with chest tubes or Asept for pneumothorax and pleural effusion.- Manage patients from vascular surgery and rapid response patients from med-surg for arrhythmia or rate control.- Handle transfers from medical-surgical ICU for patients with respiratory failure or complex surgeries.- Attend to ED admissions for sepsis requiring low-level monitoring and patients with COPD and CHF exacerbation.- Care for post-procedural patients with cardiac sequelae requiring low-level monitoring.- Support infusions including amiodarone, Cardizem, insulin, and heparin.- Maintain a professional competency appropriate to the patient population served, while organizing and prioritizing assignments.
