Job Summary:The Intensive Treatment Program (ITP) will include working with adolescents, typically 12 – 18 years old that are diagnosed on the Autism spectrum with mental health concerns and developmental or intellectual disabilities. The Occupational Therapist provides occupational therapy services to individuals as outlined in their Treatment Plan. Services are to be provided in accordance with New York State practice act guidelines for Occupational Therapy Services, The American Occupational Therapy Association, as well as in accordance with all company, state and federal standards and regulations; as well as within all regulations and requirements set forth by the organizations with which the company collaborates.Essential Job Duties:1. Reviews all available documentation related to the individual prior to beginning treatment; including the IEP, script and prior evaluations if available.2. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team (Psychiatrist, Clinical Therapist, Transition Coordinator, Speech and Language Pathologist, Behavior Support Technicians, ect) utilizing communication with all team members to enhance the treatment program of the individual.3. Identifies individual client needs and conducts ongoing assessment of individual during each visit, and modifies goals/outcomes/treatment plan accordingly.4. Participates in treatment plan review meetings and provides objectives and updates on progress5. Incorporates sensory protocols, as appropriate, in residential and home environments.6. Trains others in sensory management and self-regulation strategies for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.7. Participates in recreation activities with clients and provides guidance to recreation therapists to adapt activities to meet client needs.8. Performs appropriate parent/caregiver education and develops home programs as necessary. Including supporting clients in the home if necessary for treatment.9. Submits all required documentation of visits according to established procedure.10. Performs evaluations as assigned and when necessary for client progress11. Communicates with families on a regular basis.12. Collaborates with Residential Treatment Facility clinical staff to give recommendations on a case-by-case basis.13. Keeps abreast of legal responsibilities, professional ethics, standards of practice and agency rules, policies and regulations.14. Provides for own professional growth by attending continuing education and in-services; tracking this to assure compliance with state licensing requirements.15. Maintains client confidentiality with HIPPA/FERPA and agency guidelines.16. Any other duty as assigned by your supervisor.Skills:• Basic computer skillsCompetencies:• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Strong organizational skills• Strong time management skills• Interpersonal skills• Working knowledge of sensory integration and evidence-based practices for individuals with Autism Spectrum DisorderEducation:• Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy• Master’s Degree preferredExperience:• Minimum Experience Required: 1-2 years prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilitiesLicense/Registration/Certification:• Current NYS Occupational Therapy License and Registration• Valid NYS Driver’s LicenseTraining:• Minimum of 36 hours of Continuing education per licensing period (3 years) as per NYS Office of Profession guidelines• SCIP-R• All required agency trainings• All trainings required by programs in which you service individualsPhysical Requirements:The frequent physical demands of the position are sitting, standing, walking, climbing, talking, listening, repetitive motions, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling of children and grasping %{{advertiserId}}% %%{{category}}%%
