An Infection Prevention Specialist Registered Nurse (RN) is a highly skilled nursing professional who is responsible for implementing and managing infection prevention and control programs within a healthcare facility. This role requires specialized knowledge and expertise in the field of infection prevention and control. The following are some of the key responsibilities of an Infection Prevention Specialist RN:

Monitoring and analyzing infection data: regularly collecting, analyzing, and interpreting infection data to identify trends and outbreaks.

Developing and implementing infection control policies: working with healthcare facilities to develop and implement policies and procedures to prevent and control infections.

Conducting risk assessments: identifying and assessing the risk of infection transmission in healthcare settings and implementing measures to minimize risk.

Educating healthcare staff: providing education and training to healthcare staff on infection prevention and control practices and procedures.

Responding to outbreaks: working with healthcare teams to respond to and control outbreaks of infections.

Maintaining infection control records: keeping accurate and up-to-date records of infection control activities, including monitoring and surveillance data.

Collaborating with other healthcare professionals: working with physicians, epidemiologists, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate infection prevention and control efforts.

The ideal candidate for this role should have a current RN license and several years of experience as a registered nurse in an infection prevention and control or epidemiology setting. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well under pressure are also important qualities for this role. Additionally, experience with infection prevention and control programs, experience with data analysis, and a strong understanding of epidemiology and public health principles is highly desirable.

This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
