Overview The Endoscopy Tech is responsible for:

Providing support services to Anesthesiologists; CRNAs/AAs; Fellows, and GI/Endoscopy Suite Physicians, Nursing staff, and other care providers in the provision of patient care before, during, and after GI procedures.

Maintaining Anesthesia and Endoscopic equipment/accessories, supplies, and inventory.

Care, handling, and reprocessing of endoscopic equipment/accessories

Set up, turn over, and take down of the procedure room.

Assisting with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physicians in Endoscopy.

Providing technical assistance to physicians and nursing staff during procedures as directed, within their scope of practice. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree with emphasis on biology and human anatomy preferred; one to two years experience in a health care related role i.e. nursing assistant or PCA; MA; Anesthesia Tech required; experience with high-level disinfection/sterile processing of supplies/equipment and infection control practices preferred. Experience providing anesthesia support in an OR/Procedural setting is highly desirable. BLS required. Computer experience preferred; demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills; demonstrated excellence in public contact skills; demonstrated ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and display initiative; dependability, ability to accept direction and interact with others as a team member essential; strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work independently; demonstrated understanding of medical terminology. Completion of the SGNA Associates Program by end of first year; Completion of SGNA Advanced Associates program within 18 months of hire. Certification (Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor: CFER; or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor: CER) preferred within 2 years of hire. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support every 2 years or CPR checkoff yearly. Maintain Certification if Obtained. Annual competencies must be met as set by department.
