**Job Title:** Registered Nurse
**Job Specialty:** Step Down - Surgical Intermediate Care
**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks
**Shift:** Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
**Guaranteed Hours:** See facility guidelines
**Experience:** 1 year preferred; open to first-time travelers
**License:** Valid VA or Compact State License required
**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (Blue Cloud)
**Must-Have:** Neuro experience, Surgical Trauma skills, Chest Tubes, Cardiac Drips Titration, Telemetry, BiPAP & Hi Flow O2 experience, and strong neuro skills
**Job Description:**- Care for patients including POD 1 craniotomy, neurosurgeries, abdominal surgeries, Whipples, continuous BiPap, HFNC, chronic mechanical ventilation, insulin gtt, arrhythmia management, trauma patients, sepsis, and stroke rapid response transfers.- Ratios are typically 1:4-5.- Orientation includes up to 8 hours of non-billable modules to be completed within 1 week of signing.- Schedule includes working every third weekend.- Flexibility to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals based on volume/census needs.- First-time travelers are accepted, though specific unit experience is required.- No holiday requests will be approved for Christmas; holiday requests must be pre-approved.- Travel pairs are not allowed on the unit; may be submitted for separate units without guaranteed same shift schedules.- Navy blue scrubs required.- Epic charting experience preferred; specify any training within the past 6 months.
