Job SummaryThe Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy services under the plan of care established by a licensed Physical Therapist.
Completes documentation and submits charges to support treatment while complying with laws and regulations of appropriate state and federal agencies and Joint Commission guidelines.
AccountabilitiesImplements treatment plan: 55%Follows plan of care established by supervising physical therapistAssesses patient response to treatment and modifying treatment as neededDemonstrates proficiency and competency in clinical care in primary work areaReports changes in patient status to team members as appropriate
Effectively communicates patient status with clinical staff: 10%Documents all aspects of treatment in compliance with chart review audit componentsTreatment notes are clear, succinct and contain information regarding treatment progressionParticipates in team meetings and provides the necessary patient informationActively participates in patient/family education regarding progress and home programs as neededAppropriate abbreviations and medical terminology are utilized
Participates in discharge planning of patients including provision of documentation supporting any additional discharge needs 5%
Department and Team Responsibilities: 5%Attends staff meetings, team meetings, and mandatory in-services as scheduledCompletes assignments in a timely and thorough mannerAssists with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and suppliesCompletes charge/productivity documentation and enters information and charges in an accurate and timely mannerDemonstrates willingness to assist and is respectful of the rights of other team membersComplies with department policies and proceduresConsistently demonstrates behaviors that support the purpose statement of the department and Prisma Health and demonstrates good judgement in the selecting the proper mode of communication which conveys a favorable image of the therapy department and Prisma Health.Assumes any additional team/department responsibilities as assigned by department leadership
Provide oversight to therapy aides, students and volunteers 5%Functions as mentor to new staff and supervises new graduates 5%
Actively participates in program development as requested by supervisor. Assists in developing procedures to execute programs effectively. If applicable, maintain program and identify changes as needed in order to remain successful 5%
Productivity: Meets the team/department productivity standards 5%Complies with the established standards of efficient scheduling to maintain appropriate levels of productivity.

Minimum RequirementsAssociate's Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from a CAPTE accredited school
Required Certifications, Registrations, LicensesBLSLicensed by SC Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
If employed at the Center for Integrative Oncology & Survivorship, a Lymphedema certification is required
Required Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesDemonstrates clinical competency based on patient's ageEffective at Data Conversion
