Day Shift 8AM - 4PMDepartments Serviced: Pediatric Perioperative Services - PreOp, PACU and Medical InfusionsAssistant Clinical Director Job Description - Summary of Job FunctionThe Assistant Clinical Director is a registered professional nurse who under the direction of the Nursing Director coordinates available resources to efficiently and effectively provide professional nursing care of a quality consistent with the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Standards of Care to the patients assigned to his/her unit.The Assistant Clinical Director demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to make decisions regarding the provision of age-appropriate care for the unit's patient population. Ensure that Children's Same Day Suite is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/LicensureEducation:Licensed to practice Professional Nursing in New JerseyBachelor's degree in nursing requiredPediatric National certification in a clinical area required (i.e. CPAN)APHON Certification required or within 2 years of acceptance of the positionExperience:3-5 years relative clinical practice in PreOp/PACUJob FunctionsDevelopment/Management of PersonnelFacilitates the safe and effective functioning of the unit as demonstrated by:Interviewing and hiring licensed and unlicensed personnel in collaboration with Nursing directorContributes to the professional growth and development of staff by:Continuously assessing patient care to evaluate staff knowledge and patterns of performanceCounseling staff on identified areas for improvementEvaluating the staff performance as demonstrated by the completion of the performance evaluation in a timely mannerCounseling and implementing appropriate disciplinary actionPlanning/coordinating unit-based education programs as identified by unit needsConsiders staff participation in safety/quality initiatives when completing employee performance appraisalsFostering Interdisciplinary Collaborative RelationshipsSupport and maintain collaborative relationships with all disciplines that impact patient care on the unitFoster an atmosphere of positive communication on the unitAct as a role model in customer relationsParticipates in service and hospital-wide committees as assignedManagement of Patient Care Delivery Maintains clinical expertise as demonstrated by:Providing care that is safe, effective and consistent with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Standards of Patient CareApplying knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age, growth and development over the life span (i.e. infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult)Incorporating current research findings into clinical practiceProviding leadership in the delivery of patient care for the unit as demonstrated by:Making assignments which consider patient needs and staff competenciesAssisting staff in establishing priorities for patient care needsServing as a resource for interpretation of regulatory requirementsImplementation of policies and procedures of the nursing departmentPromoting effective resource utilization related to clinical practiceUsing effective communication strategiesParticipates in the development of performance improvement projects including design, performance measurement analysis and improvement.Unit ManagementPlans staffing in accordance with established standards as demonstrated by:Completing and posting schedules according to policy and procedureEnsure safe staffing patternsMonitoring and evaluating the standards of care for the unitRWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer
