was founded as a 501(c)(3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. https://www.visityakima.com/ .General Summary:The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to advance and support the educational needs of the academic programs at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. This position provides on-demand training and support for PNWU faculty, students, and staff. This position reports to the Director of Academic Technology.Essential Job Functions:Assist faculty in the design and presentation of their instructional materials utilizing various academic technologies (e.g., the University’s LMS, Lecture Capture Systems, polling tools, etc.).Design and deliver faculty development and student training sessions.Inform faculty and Technology Services of trends in instructional technology, methods for effective use of technology in teaching, and the use of specialized tools.Power user of curricular and assessment software and programs.Facilitate collaboration and communication between Technology Services, Administration, and Faculty.Research, review, and recommend curriculum, assessment, and instructional software to Technology Services and academic program leadership.Performs other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need.RequirementsEducation:Required: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related fieldPreferred: Master's DegreeExperience:Required: 1-3 yearsDesired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of learning theory, student learning styles and adult learning models; knowledge of widely used hardware, software, applications, resources, and techniques within an academic environment; experience with Web authoring tools, Web-based collaboration environments, and presentation software; experience with Moodle and Panopto preferred; experience with health care related curriculum preferred; ability to initiate and complete projects, to manage a complex workload, and to prioritize tasks in providing services based on established goals; commitment to facilitate faculty enthusiasm and engagement in the use of new technologies for teaching; and demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.To ensure full consideration submit:A letter of introduction outlining background and qualifications for the positionDetailed curriculum vitaeContact information for three professional referencesThe job announcement above is not the full job description, but represents the job responsibilities and requirements.
