BASIC FUNCTION:

The Howard University is seeking a proactive, self-directed, innovative and agile mindset Workday Product Owner to deliver exceptional service focused on continuous process and product improvement. The Product Owner will report to the Chief Information Officer and will oversee the governance, delivery, service level agreements, and maintenance of the Workday system. As the Lead, you will leverage your operational and technical expertise, project management capabilities, and leadership skills to exceed organizational objectives. With a focus on quality, efficiency, and automation, you will collaborate with teams cross-functionally to ensure Workday is effectively managed and enhanced at an enterprise level. This role will also take on the critical function of partnering with various departments to design, implement/test and deploy key enhancements, best practices, integrations, and innovative solutions that leverage the Workday platform and maximize its value.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Internal contacts include department's management in pursuit of quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement on the goals to meet needs dictated by the department. External contacts may include customers, vendors and the general public.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Oversee Workday Administrators, Integrations Administrators, Security Administrators and Business Systems AnalystsLead the Workday team to develop work and service standards, streamlined processes, key documentation artifacts, and create a highly productive, professional, service-oriented department culture.Identify, establish, and track key metrics - monitor team effectiveness and Workday-utilization, identifying trends, root causes, and solutions to drive efficiency, scalability, and user adoption.With team, ensure the timely execution of Workday maintenance, upgrades, and releases, effectively communicating with the stakeholders of the business processes impacted by the changes and other related downstream impacts.Manage and prioritize the product backlog of enhancements, bugs, and standard maintenance in a way that will deliver the key milestones identified on the roadmap.Establish processes to optimize request in-take and prioritization, in close collaboration with Technology.Understand industry and industry trends to inform the development of the Workday product roadmap.Develop, maintain, and evolve the Workday Product roadmap in close collaboration with leadership, technology, functional leads, and end-users.Partner with leadership and key stakeholders to support organizational strategic objectives, leveraging Workday functionality to ease administrative burden and build efficient, effective, and scalable processes.Serve as expert for all things WorkdayEngaging with Workday Community, Rising, and user groups staying ahead of Workday updates, fixes, resolutions and ensuring that Howard University gets the most out of current and future Workday capabilities.Recommend best practices and provide sound solutions to support end to end business processes. Continually identify opportunities to optimize design, oversee efforts to implement changes, and monitor improvements/sustainability.Lead and/or participate in Workday-centric projects to include business case development, project planning and management, requirements gathering, functional specification documentation, solution design, test planning, test execution, status updates, deployment, and post-deployment support.Support timely identification and escalation of risks, providing strategic guidance and developing alternative technical and functional approaches when necessary.Lead the Change Control process by engaging with business owners to review, approve and execute change requests.Form user groups that can provide feedback related to the performance and features of Workday. Stimulate and encourage innovation conversations across product and development teams.Serve as a Workday champion and promote user adoption within and outside of the Business Services Group.Manage the Workday budget and provide routine updates to Leadership.Build presentations and turns data into simple stories or dashboards digestible by peer, business partners and senior leadership.CORE COMPETENCIES:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Technology, related field or equivalent experience. 10 or more years of related experience with minimum of 3 years' experience with Workday in multiple areas, including Financials, Human Capital Management, Adaptive, Student. Five or more years of management/supervisory and measurable leadership experience.

Expected Salary Range: $159,090 - $175,000
