The Per Diem Speech Language Pathologist reports to the Clinical Supervisor, Speech Language Pathology and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Per Diem S.L.P. works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Per Diem S.L.P. with specific pediatric competencies may also work with infants, children and/or adolescents. Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Per Diem S.L.P. plans and administers a full range of speech therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and disabilities. Services include patient evaluations using speech language pathology tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing all aspects of the speech language pathology scope of practice. The Per Diem Speech Pathologist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services. While performing job duties, the Per Diem S.L.P. may also supervise support personnel including Rehabilitation Aides.Salary Information

Masters degree with clinical fellowship and minimum of 1 year of related patient care experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.Ability to recognize signs of distress.Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication.Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills.This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.Preferred Qualifications

Prior speech language pathology experience in an academic medical center environment.Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team.License/Certification

Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board of California.AHA BLS CPR.About UCSF
