Join Baker Tilly's Community Development Lending Practice on the Development & Community Advisory team and support our Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Community Development Entity (CDE) clients in their efforts to manage programs available through the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund), other federal agencies, and private sector groups. CDFIs and CDEs leverage these critical initiatives to make positive impacts to low-income communities nationwide.
This position will serve our existing CDFI and CDE client base in an expanded fashion while acting as a catalyst to grow the practice. You will collaborate with subject-matter specialists on our community development team to write, review and edit federal grants and funding applications on behalf of clients, assist with program compliance, and conduct impact assessments. Key functions include understanding the nuances of multiple CDFI Fund programs and other programs available to CDFIs and CDEs, process implementation and management and clear written communication abilities.Write, review and edit various grant applications for funding, with a particular focus on the CDFI Fund's Capital Magnet Fund program and the EPA's Clean Communities Investment Accelerator programMonitor other funding applications that are made available to CDFIs and CDEsPartner with internal managers to determine applicability of grants to existing client baseProvide strategic guidance and assist clients in preparing CDFI Certification and Recertification applicationsEvaluate compliance requirements for CDFI Fund program awards and assist clients with preparing for, completing, and submitting reportsConduct project and portfolio impact assessments and write, review and edit impact reportsProject manage application and report writing processCreate efficiencies to simplify writing when appropriateCollaborate with other team members and subject-matter specialists to coordinate, develop and incorporate technical application contentHandle all writing assignments with care and confidentialityMaintain and update database of grant opportunities applicable to clients
QualificationsBachelor's degree requiredCDFI industry experience a plus3 to 5 years of writing/editing experience required; grant writing experience preferredExcellent writing, analytical and organizational skillsStrong interpersonal skills and communication skills for internal (team) and external (client) communicationsAbility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environmentStrong work ethic and willingness to work extended periods as needed based on specific deadlines/application windows at certain times of the yearInterest in taking an opportunity from concept to significant growth/future buildout and playing a leadership role
