Our mission statement is, “Together We Build Things Right” which encompasses our business philosophy as well as our values and culture.Job SummaryThe Senior Estimator prepares cost estimates for all materials, labor, and miscellaneous costs and fees to develop project bids.Reports to: Division Manager of Underground UtilitiesKey Communication PartnersTypical DutiesRecognize positive safety habits and practices, analyze job site conditions for hazards, and create bids to ensure worker safety and compliance.Acquire plans, specifications, soil reports, historical bid files, and job cost information for detailed estimates.Coordinate and mentor the assigned takeoff engineer to ensure takeoff is performed correctly and efficiently.Prepare a synopsis of pertinent or unusual requirements; determine construction method, personnel, and equipment required.Solicit subcontractor and material quotes and maintain documentation for good faith efforts.Develop a preliminary schedule for pricing general conditions.Understand all aspects of the bid proposal including pricing based on labor productivity and crew types.Perform the preparation of detailed estimates and assemble information for organized bid packages.Complete estimates in a timely manner with ample time for review.Post bid, schedule, and review the entire estimate with the operations team.Attend project close-out meetings with the Project Manager.Work with the operations team to develop scope of work for subcontractors.Travel to jobs in progress to review construction estimates against actual processes and costs.Assist operations team with change order pricing as needed.Focus on delivery of high-quality projects.Support employee development activities and mentor less experienced team members.Maintain good client and business partner relationships.Recognize and reward contributions from co-workers.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.Education and Experience:

Undergraduate degree in civil engineering or construction management and ten or more years of progressively responsible estimating experience is preferred. In the absence of a four-year degree, equivalent education and experience is required.Language Skills:

Must be able to read and write in English; bilingual in Spanish helpful but not required.Mathematical Skills:

Basic business math and the ability to create and understand budgets; geometry, algebra, and physics necessary for calculating volume, area, and tonnage.Planning and Organizing:

Requires self-motivation, strong planning, organizing, and time management skills.Computer Skills:

Must be fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn new technologies as they evolve.Interpersonal Skills:

Ability to interface and collaborate with a wide variety of people.Certificates, Licenses, and Registration:
