Provides assistance to other specialist in the section and is a resource for other staff pertaining to difficult and unique problems involving human resource management and related issues.
Assumes and directs special projects and/or workgroups in functional areas as directed.
Coordinates assignments as necessary with specialists, the Department of Justice or with other agencies in identifying and resolving unusual and complicated issues.
Responsible for providing technical guidance to the Director, Assistant Directors, Supervisors and line staff.
Provides guidance, oversight and direction as a subject matter authority on specific human resources office issues.Salary

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.
Experience:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
Some examples of this qualifying experience are:Experience which provided a comprehensive working knowledge of and skill in performing the functions related to position classification, compensation, recruitment and placement, human resources development, employee relations and benefits, and labor management relations in the federal government.Experience which provided knowledge of the correctional environment and the issues therein which impact human resources policy.Experience with the agency's negotiated labor/management contract and the agency's organizational structure.Experience which provided knowledge of federal human resources regulatory references.If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as number of hours worked per week) spent in the activities.
