State Radio Communications supports a statewide radio network used by over 20,000 state, local, tribal, and federal first responders and critical infrastructure support personnel. The teams support 60 tower sites. State Radio Communications maintains the infrastructure and radios at the state level. The analyst will be involved in programming, testing, and installing RF communications equipment as well as maintaining the physical tower site grounds and structures. Additional duties include: build, test, and repair network components within parameters or a predetermined process; gather data to monitor, document, analyze, and interpret network performance and systems; install and test network equipment and systems, including routine maintenance activities, capacity analysis, and root-cause analysis on issues and outages; investigate new products and technologies relevant to the assigned network under the direction and guidance of network engineers; generate service tickets for vendor support; assist users/vendors with RF system-related inquiries; program and install mobile and portable radios; maintain inventory and asset management; perform general RF tower site maintenance duties, including general electrical and electronic knowledge, ability to operate radio equipment, and associated testing devices, such as wattmeter, VOM, and other small testing devices; install and repair radio equipment in vehicles. The installation process includes power, coaxial cable, antenna equipment, brackets, and safety, along with a knowledge of vehicles, safety, and functional installation with NO damage to any vehicle equipment. This position is vital to keeping communications flowing for our customers. The successful candidate will work in a variety of environments, in and around vehicles and other mechanical gear. Will have the ability to learn about radio communications equipment operations, test and remote site equipment, and usage especially computing equipment and interfacing cables to communicate with and work within a minor way under the direction of others, the radio programming information. The successful candidate will travel to tower site locations, operate maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, etc. and be able to do general maintenance work at these locations and at times work long and extended hours. Licenses and Certifications: Valid SD driver's license required. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Mechanical and electrical knowledge, knowledge and planning of radio installations in vehicles, and background knowledge of radio communications fundamentals. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer support skills and abilities to interface well with the public and radio users. A degree in Technology Engineering or related field is preferred, but not required. Knowledge of: basic electronics & communications principles; general knowledge of RF principles; working knowledge of local area networks (LAN). Skill to: troubleshoot technical challenges; communicate effectively with team members; provide good technical support to stakeholders of the state radio system. Ability to: apply secure configuration standards and processes to ensure the integrity and security of state networks; build, test, and repair network components; gather data to monitor, document, analyze, and interpret network performance and systems; install and test network equipment and systems; resolve client incidents and requests.
