Position Overview:

Power your future with Qualus

as a fully remote Principal Power Systems Engineer supporting our Sustainability group! The Principal Power Systems Engineer will be responsible for various power system studies as well as studies for generation, storage, demand and transmission projects seeking grid interconnection. This position is completely remote.Responsibilities:

Perform Interconnection feasibility studies for new generation, storage, demand and transmission projects.

Perform injection and resource deliverability studies for all or part of a transmission service provider service territory.

Optimize the size and location of new generation, storage, demand and transmission projects.

Perform power system economic studies particularly as related to interconnection of new generation, storage, demand and transmission projects.

Perform new and existing generation model validation testing.

Qualifications:

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering

5 years of grid planning experience in North America

2 years of consulting experience

Intimate knowledge of the PSSE and/or PSLF power systems analysis tools and their associated models and utilities

knowledge of TARA power systems analysis tools and their associated models and utilities

Knowledge of transmission systems in Eastern Interconnection, ERCOT and/or WECC

Extensive experience with power system studies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently

Experience with Python or similar programming environment for automation of studies

Experience in one or more of the following power systems analysis areas and tools is necessary:

Generation deliverability assessment in RTO service territories, particularly in CAISO, using TARA.

Power system economic studies using PLEXOS, PROMOD, GridView, or equivalent.

Generation model validation testing.

Experience with the following Power Systems analysis and short circuit studies tools and their associated models are strongly preferred:

Short circuit analysis using ASPEN and/or CAPE

EMT modeling and analysis using PSCAD

A Professional Engineering License is strongly preferred

MS or PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Electrical Power Systems is preferred

Technical supervision skills are strongly preferred
