Position Overview

You will be responsible for general ledger and payroll functions, maintains general ledger cash receipts, accounts payable payment files, and assists in posting all disbursements to the general ledger. This role supports accurate financial reporting, timely payroll processing, and ensures compliance with internal and external guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing:
    • Process semi-monthly payroll, including preparing and submitting all reports for approval before forwarding to the external payroll service.
    • Distribute physical paychecks and prepare manual paychecks as needed.
  • Expense applications Management:
    • Credit Card transactions via expense app
    • Reimbursement transactions via expense app
    • Bill pay transactions via expense app
    • Distribute and reconcile petty cash floats for the Finance Department and the Thrift Store on a quarterly basis.
  • General Ledger Oversight:
    • Review GL postings for accuracy and completeness before final posting by the Controller.
    • Review and reconcile all daily bank transactions.
  • Paperless Documentation:
    • Ensure all entries are supported electronically, effective fiscal year-end 2025.
  • Month-End Close and Reconciliation:
    • Assist the Controller with month-end close entries within the first ten days of the month.
    • Support monthly reconciliations and provide assistance during audit periods.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable Support:
    • Provide ad-hoc support for AP and AR staff to ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of transactions in coordination with the bank.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 yrs. or more experience as a General Ledger Accountant or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulations (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience with MIP and Paycom a plus) and Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation:

The hourly pay rate for this role is $35-37/hour, depending on experience.
