The Town of Needham seeks a dependable and responsible individual for the position of
Van Driver
in the Aging Services Division. Under the direction and supervision of the Transportation Program Coordinator, the part-time Van Driver is responsible for safely transporting senior citizens from their homes to the Center at the Heights (CATH) and other local destinations such as grocery stores and pharmacies.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide safe and dependable transportation to senior citizens in and around NeedhamAssist senior citizens with access to/from the lift-equipped van used in transportation activitiesLoad groceries and other packages into and out of the van during grocery/other shopping tripsComplete daily safety checklist to ensure vehicle is in safe working order; maintain vehicle trip/mileage logsPerform preventative maintenance checks; reporting unusual vehicles noises/vibrations, tire wear, leaks or other indicators that the vehicle may require service maintenanceEnsure and maintain cleanliness inside and outside of the vehicle
RequirementsPossess a valid Massachusetts Drivers' License with a clean driving recordCommunicate effectively and interact tactfully with the elder population and the general publicBe reliable and dependable with the ability to support and assist customers and staffHave achieved at least a High School diploma or G.E.D.Have the ability to lift/carry bundles weighing up to 20 pounds and to support a degree of leaning weight as passenger assistance is requiredPreferred but Not Required Qualifications
:Familiarity with relevant technology and devices such as smartphones, including texting, GPS, and use of standard office technology, including computers and email processesKnowledge of Needham roads and neighborhoods
