We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Permanent Attorney specializing in Environmental Law to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing legal counsel and expertise on matters related to environmental regulations and compliance. This role requires a deep understanding of environmental laws and regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, TSCA, FIFRA, and other relevant federal and state laws. This position requires an active member of the Michigan Bar with a portable book of business.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of environmental issues, including compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Represent the organization in environmental litigation and regulatory proceedings.
- Review and negotiate contracts involving environmental matters.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure company-wide compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
- Draft and review environmental policies and procedures.
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions on various environmental matters.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with regulatory agencies.
- Provide training and guidance to company personnel on environmental laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the Michigan Bar.
- 3+ years of experience in environmental law.
- Proven track record with a portable book of business is ideal.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, TSCA, FIFRA.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
- Proficient with legal research tools and software.
