Reports directly to the Manager, Network OperationsJob Summary:The Infrastructure Specialist reports to the Manager, Network Operations and is responsible for designing, testing, deploying, and supporting the communications infrastructure. This role requires foremost, a strong knowledge of Radio technologies and supporting IT technologies, to provide reliable Voice and Data communications to Client Offices, Pipelines, Plants, Meter Stations, and Block Valves. Crucially, this entails safeguarding the reliability of communications from remote devices to the SCADA system, ensuring adherence to pertinent specifications, policies, industry standards, and vendor-specific requirements for both existing and novel equipment. Furthermore, acting as a subject matter expert for communication aspects within Engineering Projects, this role extends to providing 24x7 on-call support.The primary responsibilities of the Senior Infrastructure Specialist include:Key Responsibilities/Duties:Ensuring Reliable CommunicationsEnsure the reliability of communications from all remote devices to the SCADA system, making certain that the communication systems are designed and follow all applicable specifications, policies, industry standards, and vendor-specific requirements for existing and new equipment.Technical Knowledge and DesignDemonstrate strong knowledge of Radio, WAN, LAN, and IP Systems.Translate business requirements, create technical architecture, and design technical solutions.Understand SCADA systems and electrical/electronic systems.Subject Matter ExpertiseServe as a communications subject matter expert for Engineering Projects, providing on-call support to Client for Radio/MW/Cellular communicationsProblem-Solving and InnovationBe seen as an expert in multiple product problem-solving, create solutions, and propose changes to standards and configurations based on problem resolution.Create and propose pre-emptive solutions to address other concerns.Collaboration and CommunicationPromote workforce diversity and employee safety.Provide input to short and long-term strategies specific to their areas of technical responsibility.Provide input to the development of Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery planning and testing as required for their area of technical responsibility.Communicate as required to management, IT, and business clients and vendors.Interface with vendors and other service providers on architecture and technical design.Project ManagementLead mid-size projects and develop and maintain project plans, including communications strategy.Participate in the management of project budgets (both expense and capital).On-Call Responsibilities - On-call rotation participation is a job requirement.Preferred Key Skills:Experience in microwave radio design, implementation and support. Experience with Oil & Gas environments a plus.Design experience with RF predictive coverage modelling and associated toolsExperience with RF system infrastructure including repeaters, antennas, filters, combiners, duplexers, etc.Experience with Wi-Fi, wireless PTP/PTMP, satellite, microwave, Land Mobile Radio and cellular technologiesKnowledge of Telecom sites design development, power systems, groundingFamiliarity/ work experience with the following radio manufacturers a plus Nokia, Cambium, 4RF, Sierra Wireless, GE, Starlink.Knowledgeable of radio licensing requirements for FCC compliance and safetyUnderstand network management systems, servers and related infrastructureHands on experience with Service ticketing tools (Service Now)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent field experience.Cisco or other relevant certifications are a plus.About Us:
