PURPOSE: As a Cost Accounting Manager, you will directly and actively support the accurate development, maintenance, and fiscal reporting of manufacturing costs & variances.
Additionally, this position is responsible for the accounting and compliance of fixed asset and inventory records. This includes conducting physical inventories, auditing procedures and documentation, and monitoring new capital projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):
Manage designated Cost Accounting staff, including training, development and performance reviewsOversee the Fixed Asset accounting process, including reporting, analysis and supporting business partnersPrepare weekly and monthly reporting and analysis related to manufacturing variances, inventory, and fixed assetsCollaborate with operations on decreasing manufacturing variances and inventory adjustmentsParticipate in physical inventories, including data entry, auditing and countingPrepare month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and Sarbanes-Oxley documentationPrepare, analyze, and forecast LIFO inventory calculationProvide master data updates, including costs for new productsPrepare special price requests for international customers and subsidiariesReport, analyze, and resolve low marginsLeverage technology to drive efficiencies within the departmentBASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor degree with a major in Accounting or Finance preferred or a minimum of 10 years of equivalent experienceCPA/CMA certificates and advanced degree are a plus5+ years of Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred;General accounting experience with additional background in cost will be consideredSupervisory experience preferred, direct or indirect, with the ability to lead cost accounting personnelExcellent PC skills required (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Windows-environment, etc.)SAP experience a plusDeveloped communication skills in writing and verbally with ability to influence stakeholdersHighly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
