What you’ll need to succeed as an Assistant Service Center Manager at XPOMinimum qualifications:At least 5 years of LTL freight management and/or service center management experienceThorough knowledge of and experience with the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, transportation rules and regulations, OSHA standards, hazardous materials regulations, NMFC and Tariff rules and company policies and proceduresExperience with Microsoft OfficeA valid driver’s licenseAvailable to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends and to travel as needed
Preferred qualifications:Bachelor’s degree, 5 years of related work or equivalent military experienceExperience with process improvement and the use of Lean and/or Six SigmaForklift experienceDemonstrated ability to prioritize work with excellent organizational skillsStrong interpersonal and management skills and able to effectively lead, coach and influence employeesExcellent verbal and written communication skills and able to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for the intended audience

What you’ll do on a typical day:Assist in supervising all employees reporting to the service center, including tracking and auditing employees’ hours, handling payroll issues and personnel changes, administering corrective action and monitoring the coaching, training and development of your staffLead the service center when upper management is not on siteAssist in managing and directing inbound, city and outbound freight operations, including FAC operations, if applicableAssist in planning daily staffing needs to ensure freight is delivered and picked up on timePartner with sales team to help grow revenue at the service centerFrequently provide information to service center employees about productivity and company policies and proceduresAnalyze, monitor and implement opportunities to cut costs and improve efficienciesMaintain clean and safe working conditions of the facility and equipmentComply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as all company policies/proceduresRoute proper documentation and oversee procedure control for hazardous material shipments
Assistant Service Center Managers are required to:Frequently
lift up
to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 75 lbs.Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneelWork outdoors in inclement weatherWalk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slipperyBe open to potentially relocating geographic areas for career advancement
