The primary purpose of this position you deliver first-class "COMM" to advance Team Eglin's warfighting capabilities. The primary purpose of this position is: Subject Matter Expert assigned to the 96 CS/SCOO Flight. Responsible for performing professional cyber networking Infrastructure planning, maintenance and installation support of 96th Test Wing and Team Eglin units. Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and install applications software and hardware for operating systems. Provide technical guidance and instruction to users and other IT specialists. Serve as a senior technical advisor to management. Serves as senior technical advisor on cyber, IT, or IM activities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-2210, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A) Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade band NH-02 or GS-11 level, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. This may include any of the following: (a) planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware and operating systems and applications software; (b) managing accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment; (c) managing systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability; (d) implementing security procedures and tools; developing and documenting systems administration standard operating procedures; (e) resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; (f) ensuring systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency; (g) maintaining systems configuration; (h) managing the installation and integration of systems fixes, updates, and enhancements; (i) and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security/ information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services. ? NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. Ideal Candidate Statement (cannot be used for qualification determination): Looking for an experienced data center technician familiar with VMware virtualization, NetApp filers, Veritas NetBackup, as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server operating systems. Best Qualified to me would be: 5+ years of professional DoD expertise in a mixture of VMware virtualization, NetApp filers, Veritas NetBackup, as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server operating systems. Minimally Qualified to me would be: 1-5 years of professional experience in a mixture of VMware virtualization, NetApp filers, Veritas NetBackup, as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server operating systems. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices for integrating information system components sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer computer systems, and optimize system performance. Knowledge of the latest advancements in technology to initiate corrective or preventative action to ensure optimum performance of the system. Knowledge of performance tuning tools, database management, and project-management methods sufficient-to optimize systems performance, troubleshoot database performance problems, and perform a wide range of systems administration functions. Knowledge of operating systems associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems to optimize the functionality and performance of systems and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and eligibility of servers. Ability to apply methods and practices for troubleshooting recovery, adjusting; modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problem, provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers, and maintain liaison with industry and other activities to provide awareness of state-of-the-art technology. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
